Nothing Too New

Hello, readers!

Again, a rather slow week. So slow, I'm surprised it went by as fast as it felt like it did. There's literally no news for me to share. As for the news article, it wasn't in this week's paper, so maybe Lena hadn't finished it yet and thus it wasn't printed. I don't know. Hopefully everyone will be able to read it this week.

No news on the writing front. I have been applying to some publishing jobs, though. I need to call in today to check on a few of them and say I'm still interested, but how does that conversation go? With enough research I can probably find a general phone number, but is that the right one to use? I already hate talking on the phone, and this just makes everything worse. Maybe I should ask Ms. Nelson from the career center on how to do this.

As for the possible book event happening Spring Break, I still don't know if it's going on or not. The coordinator Mr. Thomas hasn't sent me any notice or whatnot. I sent him an email yesterday asking him about it, but I have yet to get a reply. I hope everything's okay.

Still managing to work on my latest manuscript on the weekends. I don't think I told you the title in my last post. It's called Moa-27 (pronounced 'Mo-ay' twenty-seven); it's the anagram of the type of cyborg the main character is-M.O.A.-turned into her name, followed by her production number. I like it as a title, and I love the main character and what a paradox I'm trying to make her be.

Like 2: Oreos. YUM. :)

Dislike 1: Making follow-up calls on job applications. How the heck do you do it?!

Dislike 2: We get our second midterm for my history class tomorrow. It's another essay, and it's supposedly shorter then the first one (which I got a B+ on), but it's still a history essay, with research and fact and boring crap like that. :P

Third Time's the Charm

Good day, USA!

Again, not a lot happening this past week. The only bit of news that I do have is the Lena the newsperson who's writing the SA article for the Knox Student met up with me a third time on Tuesday to sort out some final details. I'm impressed; she clearly wants to do a good job with the article, which not only means good publicity for me, but it shows what a hard worker she is with trying to make this article the best it can be. According to her, it should be coming out in the Arts section of the paper this week, so keep your eyes peeled!

Other than that, not much. I'm slowly working on my next manuscript, which I still love and adore and will hopefully become the best thing I've ever wrote. For those who don't know, it's a sci-fi about a cyborg living in a post post apocalyptic society trying to figure out the conspiracy behind her creation and her past life. It's like the biggest writing project I've undertaken, and like all my other works I WILL FINISH IT!

And there was Valentine's Day, which I spent ALONE, like always. Though I did have some yummy Russell Stover candy to nom on (thanks, Mom!).

Like 1: Reading Day was on Wednesday, which was basically I day off from classes. Spent it napping and reading, and now I'm officially done with all the reading for my European History class.

Like 2: The upcoming article. See above.

Like 3: Applied to some jobs. Made me feel productive.

Like 4: Lindsey Currie. She's a Knox alumni who I got in contact with thanks to the career center. She was sweet, and told me all about working in the publishing business. I got another possible contact and info about an internship from her. Yay for networking!

Like 5: I've applied also for my final three classes at Knox. One's a gender/woman's studies, the other two are English, with one of those being the Senior Portfolio all senior Creative Writing majors have to do to graduate. I can do this!

One More Thing

Going to where no blogger has gone before...

Can you tell that nothing happened this weekend from this opening line? Because it's true; almost a whole bunch of nothing happened this week. I blame midterms wrapping up. :P

But I say almost because Lena, the girl writing the article about SA for my college's newspaper, sent me an email saying how her journalism professor absolutely loves her article, but she wants to meet one last time to straighten out some last details (hence 'one more thing'). So the article will either be in this week's paper or next week--I'm thinkin' next week--if it's put in the paper at all (Lena's not like an official journalist for The Knox Student, but she says there's a good chance it will be, so I'm going to believe her).

Not much on the book front otherwise. Job front is looking good though. I have another appointment with a resource coordinator from a publisher I really want to work at, so I'm excited about that (it helps his granddaughter read the book and completely loved it). I also got in contact with a fellow Knox alumni who's also a writer/freelance editor, and she gave me good advice. I hope to stay in contact with her. :)

Like 1: The Olympics started! It's the one sporting event besides baseball that I love watching. Though I'm kinda twitchy about them being in Russia with the whole anti-gay thing going on and with the Olympics being all about human sporting rights, but they're still fun to watch. GO USA!

Like 2: I didn't have my history class two out of three days this week 'cause the professor was gone, so I was able to get ahead in my reading.

Like 3: Finally got in contact with the parents after being too busy with midterms. It was great to hear them both. :)

Can't really think of any dislikes this week.

School Paper Interview!

Hi readers. Sorry about not posting last week--it's midterms up here, and I was in the middle of a history essay. :P

But remember how I said there was going to be a slow period of news for at least a few weeks? I was wrong, because there's GOING TO BE AN ARTICLE ABOUT MY BOOK IN THE SCHOOL NEWSPAPER!!!!!!

A journalism student for the Knox Student, our paper, contacted me week before last about it. She'd been at the Catch reading, and she'd wanted to know more about my book after the MC guy announced to the crowd that I had a book out. So Lena (that's her name) contacted me, and we met in two interview sessions. We talked about basic interview stuff--the writing process, how I came up with the book, those types of things--and she was real professional about it. I was very impressed.

Don't know when it'll be in the paper; I think it'll be this week. I'll make sure to post a picture and hopefully there'll be a link to a online version of the article. Keep an eye out!

Like 2: Figuring out I'm doing well in my classics class. I'm the type of person that despite working hard, I start to doubt myself without positive reinforcement. I talked to my professor about how to improve my work, and he said I'm actually one of the top people in class. So now I feel better and know more on what to do. :)

Like 3: Snow! Lots and lots of snow. It's so fluffy!

Dislike 1: My midterm paper for my English class. It's not as bad (or long) as my history paper, but still! Who enjoys midterms?
